It is a tremendous blessing for me to be serving The United Methodist Church at Lakewood as its Pastor. I truly believe that God has put all of us together at this time and in this place to be the people of God for the world. I am reminded of the story of Queen Esther in the Hebrew Bible. Esther’s cousin Mordecai asks her to help the Jews, because he believes that God has placed Esther in the right place at the right time. Mordecai says that God has put Esther in the court of the Persian King “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). My greatest hope is that we can be in ministry together in a way that is meaningful and touches lives at “such a time as this.”

Relationships are the most valuable thing in the world to me. Relationships are the greatest blessing in my life. I believe that God has entrusted us with the precious gift of nurturing our relationships with one another, with our community, and with all of God’s children around the world, and with Jesus who is our Lord and Savior. I truly believe that all people are of sacred worth and that God’s love for each and every one of us is unwavering.

When we gather on Sunday mornings to worship God, I fully expect that God is waiting for us to turn our attention away from the busyness of our lives and toward God. When we set time aside for God, we inevitably have a sacred encounter. Our weekly worship services are joyful and filled with bountiful blessings.

I believe that God intends for us to have lives filled with hope and joy. I believe that God intends for our hearts to be transformed by grace, which is God’s unconditional love for us. I believe that God intends for us to be agents of that love in the world.

There is a real sense of increasing joy and vitality in our community of faith. The congregation is happy and hopeful. I sense that our future is bright and filled with blessings. Join me on our adventure of faith as we seek to be a blessing to others!

     Grace and Peace,

      Pastor Cheryl
